Traffic safety policy
In sweden more than 20 % of all the work related accidents resulting in death are traffic accidents.
Every employer must enforce a work environment policy to minimize the risk of accidents and employee ill-health. If the imployees drive vehicles at work the traffic safety factors must be brought up in the work environment policy or in a specific traffic safety policy.
"The purpose of the traffic safety policy is to secure that trips and transports performed by employees occur in a safe, effective and environmentaly friendly way."
Maintaining traffic safety
The swedish work-environment board "Arbetsmiljöverket" has established guidelines on how a traffic safety policy should look wich is available to download from their web site.
The guideline states that workers should have the knowledge, motivation, information and education needed to comply with the policy.
Arbetsmiljöverket also recommends that personnel take a traffic safety course including driving a skid-pan every other year.
The utmost purpose is, of course, to save lives and diminish suffering. We at Stora Holm Trafikövningsplats want take part in this. Through education and also in helping with developing traffic safety policies for companies and organizations.
